ChargeWon LLC ("ChargeWon," "we," "us," or "our") operates the ChargeWon application and website (chargewon.com). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our services.
By installing our Shopify app, connecting your Stripe account, or using our website, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Merchant Account Information
When you install ChargeWon from the Shopify App Store or connect via our website, we collect:
- Your Shopify store domain (myshopify.com URL)
- Business name and contact email address
- Shopify access token (encrypted, used to retrieve order and fulfillment data)
- Stripe account identifier (used to monitor disputes and submit evidence)
1.2 Transaction and Order Data
To build chargeback evidence on your behalf, we access the following data from your connected Shopify store:
- Order details: order number, date, line items, amounts, currency
- Customer information: name, email address, billing address, shipping address
- Fulfillment data: fulfillment status, tracking numbers, carrier name, shipping dates
1.3 Payment Dispute Data
From your connected Stripe account, we access:
- Dispute details: dispute ID, reason code, amount, status, evidence deadline
- Charge information: charge ID, amount, payment method (card brand, last 4 digits), billing details
- Customer payment history: prior successful charges from the same customer (used for Visa Compelling Evidence 3.0)
1.4 Shipping and Delivery Data
When available, we retrieve delivery verification from shipping carriers (FedEx, UPS, USPS, DHL) including:
- Delivery confirmation: date, time, and location of delivery
- Proof of delivery photos (carrier-provided delivery images)
- Signature confirmation (recipient name, if signed)
1.5 Analytics Data
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymized usage data about visits to our website and app pages, including page views, referral sources, and general device/browser information. This data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected solely for the following purposes:
- Dispute recovery: To detect chargebacks on your Stripe account, gather evidence from Shopify and shipping carriers, generate AI-powered rebuttals, and submit evidence to Stripe on your behalf.
- AI evidence generation: Order, customer, and delivery data is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic Claude) to generate professional dispute rebuttals. This data is processed in real-time and is not stored by the AI provider for training purposes.
- Account management: To maintain your ChargeWon account, communicate with you about disputes, and provide customer support.
- Billing: To calculate and collect our success fee (15% of recovered funds, capped at $250 per dispute) when a dispute is won.
- Service improvement: To monitor performance, win rates, and improve our dispute strategies.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the following parties, and only as necessary to provide our services:
- Stripe: We submit dispute evidence directly to Stripe via their API on your behalf. This is the core function of our service.
- Anthropic (AI Provider): Order and transaction data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate dispute rebuttals. Anthropic does not use this data to train their models. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Shipping Carriers: We query FedEx, UPS, USPS, and DHL APIs using your tracking numbers to retrieve delivery verification. We do not send them any data beyond the tracking number.
- Google Analytics: Anonymized website usage data is processed by Google. See Google's Privacy Policy.
We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ChargeWon, our users, or others.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by DigitalOcean. We implement the following security measures:
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Shopify access tokens and Stripe credentials are stored encrypted at rest
- API authentication is required for all data access
- Stripe webhook signatures are verified to prevent unauthorized requests
- We follow the principle of least privilege — we only request the minimum Shopify API scopes needed (read_orders, read_customers, read_fulfillments)
5. Data Retention
We retain your merchant account data for as long as your account is active and connected. Dispute-related data (evidence, rebuttals, outcomes) is retained for 18 months after the dispute is resolved, to support potential appeals or audits.
If you uninstall ChargeWon or disconnect your Stripe account, we will delete your stored data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., billing records).
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you and your customers.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your data by uninstalling the app or contacting us.
- Data portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent: Disconnect your Stripe account or uninstall the Shopify app at any time.

7. Shopify Data Protection
As a Shopify app, we comply with Shopify's API Terms of Service and data protection requirements. We:
- Only access Shopify data necessary to provide our chargeback recovery service
- Do not use Shopify customer data for marketing, advertising, or any purpose unrelated to dispute recovery
- Honor Shopify's mandatory webhooks for app uninstallation and data deletion requests
- Process data deletion requests within 30 days of receiving them
8. Cookies
Our website uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies to distinguish unique users and track sessions. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking across other websites. You can control cookie settings through your browser preferences.
9. Children's Privacy
ChargeWon is a business-to-business service designed for e-commerce merchants. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If we learn that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or through a notice on our website. Your continued use of ChargeWon after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
